Days 21-25

June 21st: Today I watched the video, Alternate Routes London on Amazon Prime and listened to the podcast, Rick Steves’ Lecture Series, Travel as a Political Act. One of Joe’s students bought him the book, Rick Steves Travel As A Political Act for his birthday. If I don’t have time to read it this week, I’m hoping to read it on the plane ride to London.

June 22nd: Today I watched the video, Vista Point LONDON England on Amazon Prime and listened to the podcast, Rick Steves’ London, London Update. During this final week of preparation, my goal is to figure out the details of our arrival and first day in London. We will probably take the train into the city from the airport, which will take about an hour. Once we get checked into our hotel we will take a nap and then hopefully grab food and take a walk through our neighborhood. Staying hydrated and getting a full nights rest will be a must to stay in good health for the start of our tour the following day.

June 23rd: I watched the video, Global Treasures, Tower of London & Tower Bridge and listened to the podcast, Rick Steves’ London, Trendy East London. Our tour doesn’t start until 4:00pm on Sunday so we will have a full day to ourselves. Our hotel is just east of Hyde Park, so I’m hoping we will be able to check out the park, Kensington Gardens and Buckingham Palace before our tour begins.

June 24th: Today I watched the video, Smart Travels with Rudy Maxa: London and listened to the podcast, Rick Steves’ London, Affordable London. I’m reviewing our guide books and planning to fit in some extra sites during our free time. We are hoping to tour Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on Monday and the Victoria and Albert Museum on Wednesday. On Thursday we are hoping to do a little sightseeing around Windsor and on Friday we hope to visit the Imperial War Museum.

June 25th: Today I watched the video Smart Travels with Rudy Maxa: London, Walking Around and listened to the podcast, Rick Steves’ London, Changing Faces of London. I’m doing a final check of the London weather to make sure we have packed appropriate clothing. Joe and I are meeting for lunch at Hot Chicken Takeover this afternoon and having dinner at the Refectory for our anniversary. We leave for London tomorrow and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary! Cheerio!
